Latest Marathi movie ‘Shentimental’, which released on 28th July, took a decent start on Indian box office. Opening to 10% occupancy, the Marathi film earned Rs 0.3 crore income on 1st day of its release.
Releasing on 250 screens in Maharashtra, the Marathi movie didn’t meet filmmakers’ expectations and received dull response in cinema halls. Though the film was also released in some plexes outside the Marathi state, it couldn’t gain much response from audiences.
Featuring Ashok Saraf, Pallavi Patil and Suyog Gorh in leading roles, the Marathi movie received mixed reviews from the critics. Directed by Sameer Patil, the political satire film witnessed lowest occupancy on the opening day.
Though veteran actor Ashok Saraf returned on big screen after a long time, the movie couldn’t receive huge response. Due to box office clash with newly released Hindi films ‘Mubarakan’ and ‘Indu Sarkar’, the Marathi film failed to earn big income on 1st day.
On other hand, the latest Bollywood movies witnessed huge occupancy on opening day. Arjun Kapoor starrer ‘Mubarakan’ collected Rs 5.25 crore income on Indian box office. Neil Nitin Mukesh’s ‘Indu Sarkar’ grossed Rs 0.92 crore box office collection on day 1.
